January 9, 2014 - Cockroaches in a poultry plant, an "egregious unsanitary condition" indeed. But wait! How did this get from the first sighting in September, 2013 to this point of egregiousness in one of the largest and heavily inspected poultry processing plants in California? According to the report, this same plant was linked to a salmonella outbreak last year and supposedly drew intense scrutiny by USDA.
I am not at all
surprised by this news. Are you? Much is happening in the marketplace to cause these kinds of
situations. Suspension (a knee-jerk reaction) only generates a short-lived focus
that soon shifts from one facility to another without solving the problem for
the consumer. In spite of these momentary euphoria and boisterousness, the food
safety assurance sea worldwide is losing life and drying up like the Aral Sea
region.
